Brazilian ban on billboards: How far to take it

Max Kalehoff writes about Sao Paulo’s move to ban outdoor advertising from the enormous city. Vermont did something similar long ago, and the absence of billboards makes a drive through its green mountains much more beautiful. But I like advertising in cities. Brightens them up. In fact, video game makers have found that most players prefer to rampage through virtual cities plastered with advertising. It makes them feel more realistic. Will virtual cities be the next target for Sao Paulo’s clean-up brigade?
